My friend Chad Curl, author of what is without a doubt the best eBook I’ve ever read on the topic of subscriber list building, has created a very useful tool and resource guidebook on launching products successfully.

It’s called Forecast to Cash, and true to its’ name it is a calculator program designed to predict exactly what it will take you in order to earn your desired amount of money with any product you are considering creating and selling online.

While the main draw of this package is clearly the Financial Calculator that estimates your needed number of JV partners in order to reach your financial goal, this package clearly doesn’t stop there.

It comes with a very well-detailed 74-page PDF document covering all aspects of the product creation and sales business, from creating your product, marketing it, finding JV partners, all the way up to increasing our conversion rates.

Topics covered in the PDF guidebook:

  • Creating a Site
  • Product Ideas
  • Advertising Methods
  • Joint Venture Partnerships
  • Your Offers (One-time-offers and other structures)
  • Business Conversions overview
  • Increasing Conversions
  • Using Forecast Calculator
  • A Glossary of Marketing & Launch Terms

Clearly this eBook is full of content designed to bring newbies and intermediate marketers up to an advanced Product creator/JV Partner status. The large amount of content will surely have some nice tips and strategies inside for everyone but the most diehard Guru.

However the book wasn’t nearly as fascinating for me as the tool. It was a cinch to install, (Microsoft-only .MSI install file… Sorry Mac and Unix guys…) and within a moment I was having a lot of fun computing how much my marketing would cost if I wanted to earn $X amount with my upcoming launches!

Of course you know that setting goals is very, very important in making money. But it’s even more important with product launches… In retrospect it is surprising to me that no one came up with this tool before now, because the math involved in launching a product is extremely difficult, with lots and lots of variables to consider… Very similar to doing your taxes!

No, the tool isn’t for everyone, it won’t help you if you have no desire to launch a product online and market it well. However for those of us who aspire to make the Big Bucks with product launching, I feel that this tool borders on VITAL, and it now seems hard to believe that people ever launched a product successfully before without it.

So what’s this tool do, exactly?

If you’ve ever used one of those online mortgage calculators or something similar than you can imagine the interface. It’s deceptively simple, once you know what the labels beside each field mean.

You start by inputting the amount of money you are realistically trying to make with your product launch. I resisted the temptation to put a Billion dollars in there, but if I had I’m sure it would have happily tried to accommodate me.

Next you tell it the price of you product. If you have a “One-Time-Offer,” a “Bump” or a “Downsell,” (All terms thoroughly explained in the handbook) then you can add those too.

Then you tell it a conversion rate that you are likely to have. Naturally you can never know what it will be, but you should use the general rules of thumb he lays out in his guidebook, once again. You also add the conversion rates for your OTOs, Bumps, & downsells.

Finally, you click the “Calculate” button and your eyes get wide as you see all kinds of detailed information on visitor value, how much traffic you’ll need, how many JV partners you’ll need to get that traffic, and impressively, JV Partners split up by size. (Example: 2 ‘Super Gurus,’ 10 ‘Mid-sized Marketers,’ and 75 ’small-fry’ marketers.) This part is the most education for me, as it clearly spells out how many JV partners I have to contact, and how BIG those JV Partners are that I have to contact, in order to reach my goal!

The bottom line is that this is an all-new tool that takes the guesswork out of a multi-billion dollar industry that has always been operating on Guesswork before. It turns a process where you had no choice but to just try as hard as possible and hope for the best, into a predictable business, plain and simple.

So if you have an idea for a great product and really want to put it to the numbers, I can’t recommend this tool enough. New product creators will find the handbook very educational as well. You can bet I’ll be using it for all my future product launches… Constantly.
